I have not forgotten about Yena‘s comeback (or about AtHeart, which I’ll cover tomorrow), there are just so many new songs right now and so little time. 

Yena is back with the new EP ‘Love Catcher’ and the title song ‘캐치캐치’ / ‘Catch Catch’. And this time she is, like with Nemo Nemo, again leaning full force into Camp. The whole song screams second generation and this concept matches her so well (while she can also pull off more nuanced styles like last year’s ‘Being a Good Girl Hurts‘ as well).

Let’s look at this part:

곰이랑 여우 둘 다 닮았죠

꼬리도 있어요 참 예쁘죠?

동그랗게 눈을 뜨면 반칙인데 참는 거라구

“I look like both a bear and a fox.

Vocabulary & grammar breakdown

1. 곰이랑 여우 둘 다 닮았죠

• 곰 = “bear”
• 여우 = “fox”
• –이랑 = “and / with” (casual connector)
• 둘 다 = “both”
• 닮다 → 닮았죠 = “resemble / look like” + –죠 (confirming tone)

→ 둘 다 닮았죠 = “(I) resemble both.”
