In USPEER’s “WICKED GAME,” Cupid seems to need a little help.
The funniest Korean part is this chain of tiny sound-effect words:
귀에 훅 바람을 불어
몰래 툭 발끝을 걸어
살짝 쿡 심장을 찔러
훅 feels like a sudden whoosh.
A quick breath. A sudden movement.
So:
= blow a quick breath into his ear
Then:
툭 feels like a small tap, bump, or sudden little contact.
= secretly trip him with your foot
And:
쿡 feels like a small poke or jab.
= gently poke his heart
So the whole lyric feels like:
whoosh — tap — poke.
Not elegant romance.
More like Cupid causing tiny emotional accidents.
Especially because later they sing:
Oh, Cupid is out of arrows
Cupid is out of arrows?
Then try something. Anything.
