BTS – 2.0: Reasserting their territory

Today, BTS released another song from their comeback album ‘2.0’. The song essentially narrates their comeback story. During their hiatus, numerous other boy bands emerged, and understandably, they all aspired to take their place. However, BTS has returned stronger than ever, reclaiming their territory in the music industry. They assert their dominance and demand respect from others.

The music video perfectly complements the lyrics, drawing significant inspiration from the iconic fight scene in Park Chan-wook’s film ‘Oldboy’.

 그래 방탄처럼 그게 말은 쉽지?
우린 뜀틀 누가 맨날 뛰어넘니?

Yeah, being ‘bulletproof’ — easy to say, isn’t it?

But who actually clears that vault every day?

Vocabulary & grammar breakdown

1. 방탄처럼

방탄 (防彈) = “bulletproof”

–처럼 = “like / as”

방탄처럼 = “like being bulletproof”

→ Not referring to the group here, but the literal meaning.

2. 그게 말은 쉽지?

그게 = “that (subject)”

말은 = “as for saying it” (–은 = contrast marker)

쉽다 → 쉽지? = “is easy, right?”

말은 쉽지 = “easy to say (but hard to do).”

3. 우린 뜀틀 누가 맨날 뛰어넘니?

우리는 → 우린 = “we”

뜀틀 = “vault (gym equipment)”

누가 = “who”

맨날 = “every day”

뛰어넘다 → 뛰어넘니? = “jump over” (question)

→ “who actually jumps over it every day?”

4. Rhetorical structure (누가 … ?)

누가 … ? implies “no one / it’s unrealistic”

→ The line challenges the idea:

being “bulletproof” sounds nice, but who actually does the hard work daily?

This lyric is pretty straightforward and a bit harsh:

👉 It’s simple to claim you’re the strongest, but keeping that strength going is a whole different story.

Just because someone says they’re the strongest doesn’t mean they’re actually capable of doing it consistently.
