ATEEZ – Adrenaline: Get Ready for a High-Energy Rush!

ATEEZ has returned with the fourth installment of their Golden Hour EP series, titled ‘Adrenaline’. They have undoubtedly proven themselves to be a hardworking idol group, consistently releasing a substantial number of EPs and singles. ‘Adrenaline’, as expected, is an energetic and hard-hitting song that showcases one of their well-known characteristics.

The lyrics perfectly capture this essence, conveying a sense of gasoline in their blood and adrenaline pumping through their veins.

I’ve chosen two Korean lines from the song that I particularly like:

조명 사이로 보이는 너의 눈빛

감당할 수 없이 흔들리는 이성이

“I can see those eyes through the glow that’s lit.

Rationality slipping, can’t control it.”

Vocabulary & grammar breakdown

1. 조명 사이로 보이는

  • 조명 = “lighting / lights”
  • 사이 = “between”
  • –로 = directional marker (“through”)
  • 보이다 = “to be seen / to be visible” (passive)
  • 보이는 = present attributive form

→ Grammar pattern: [location + –로] + 보이다

→ Meaning: “visible through / seen through (the lights)”

2. 너의 눈빛

  • 너의 = “your”
  • 눈빛 = “look in one’s eyes / gaze”

→ A fixed noun commonly used for eye expression, grammatically simple and concrete.

3. 감당할 수 없이

  • 감당하다 = “to handle / bear”
  • –ㄹ 수 있다 = ability (“can”)
  • –없이 = “without”

감당할 수 없이 = “without being able to handle (it)”

→ Functions as an adverbial phrase, modifying the following verb.

4. 흔들리는 이성

  • 흔들리다 = “to shake / waver / slip”
  • 흔들리는 = present attributive form
  • 이성 = “reason / rationality”

→ Literal structure: “rationality that is wavering”

→ In English, naturally rendered as “rationality slipping / losing control.”

What makes your rationality slip / 흔들리는 이성? Are you excited for this new release from ATEEZ?
